Description

The RDS Blue/Green Deployment strategy involves creating a new "Green" environment with an updated RDS instance alongside the existing "Blue" production environment. The data from the Blue environment is migrated to the Green environment, which is then thoroughly tested. Once the Green environment is validated, DNS records are updated to route traffic to the new Green environment, gradually shifting production traffic away from the Blue environment. After stabilization, the Blue environment can be safely terminated. This approach minimizes downtime, allows comprehensive testing, mitigates risks, and enables scalability by deploying changes to a separate environment before cutting over production traffic. The ability to roll back reduces the impact of failed deployments. This is a hands-on session, so please bring your laptop.
